I have reindexed bitcoin–qt
but it took me so long I don’t really know what to do next. How exactly can I send XCP to my wallet? It still looks like a bitcoin wallet.
I really just want to save some XCP for now. Is it possible to just use the wallet without entering the main network command line thing?
thanks for any help

Do you currently have your XCP at an exchange? If you do, then you can just withdraw the XCP from the exchange to your Bitcoin address. Your Bitcoin address is the same as your Counterparty address.
Wow, that is the case and that is great clarification of what I thought to be the case.
I might sit out for a while while I learn more but at least this way I can secure a wallet.
Thanks
But if I may ask, what would happen if I received bitcoin and xcp at the same address?
I am assuming Bitcoin network would still see the bitcoin balance, but on my own GUI would the bitcoin and xcp balances be added together?

You can receive BTC and XCP to the same address and still use that Bitcoin address like your normally would after receiving XCP to it. BTC and XCP balances are completely separate, however, you need BTC to send XCP, but not vice versa.

There is no problems having both Bitcoin and XCP on the same address. If you are using a wallet which is not aware about XCP, then you will not be able to see the XCP balance. You can continue to use the Bitcoin side of things with your wallet and it will not have any affect on your XCP balance.
Thanks for the help.
I have XCP in my wallet. But I just read on reddit that he password is stored in my couputer’s cache?? Does that mean if I am using counterwallet right?
I am ok to backup my XCP wallet, cold storage, etc… and everything will work normally like a BTC wallet. Is that right? I can ‘delete my cache’ and be OK right?
thanks again
Nothing is stored on your computer’s cache or temp directory with Counterpartyd. Now if you’re going to use Counterwallet and it ends up working like xnova describes, then yes, your password will be stored in your browser’s cache memory. You can delete your browser’s cache right now without repercussions if that’s what you’re asking.
