I haven’t seen a dividend payout in almost 2 weeks. Is anything wrong?
Hi sparta_cuss,
There has been a couple of minor problems which caused a drop in hash rate. That will be compensated in the next payout. That would only contribute to a small factor to a longer than expected payout.
Majority of the delay is due to the timing of the mining to the new wallet. The way Eligius works is that you need to reach a minimum amount before entering the payment queue. The cutover wasn’t ideal to the new wallet so there are some funds that will be sent to the old address and some to the new address. The amount of time to reach the minimum amount will take longer.
The final factor is that the bitcoin difficulty jumped ~18% on May 24th which corresponds to a respective slow down in ROI https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty
tldr; Dividend is coming. It will be correspondingly larger than usual
Thanks for the quick and thorough response. I figured that the increase in difficulty was the reason, but I did not consider the other issues. I’m glad to know that we’re still in the game.
Hi All,
My apologies for the delay. I have just sent out the most recent distribution.
Total received by mining:
0.06704777
I have waived the 3% fee and rounded up to compensate for the down time:
0.07
The total amount of distribution per GIGAHASH is:
0.000875

Hi All,
I have sourced a further 50 GIGAHASH and I have increased the issuance accordingly. I will put up buy orders for XCP and BTC. This is hashing at GHASH.IO and I will provide the graphs of the hash rate at each dividend payout in the future.
Happy mining!
Blockscan doesnt show any dividends paid for gigahash. Do you not use counterparty to pay dividends and do it manually?

Yes, I use Counterparty but dividends paid in BTC aren’t recorded in the Counterparty ledger.
The history of dividend payments and the respective blockchain.info TX links can be found in this thread. It isn’t unfortunately all out of one address which would make it easy to look up. This is because I initially started with the CLI and then moved wallets in Counterwallet a couple of times.

Hmm, so on blockscan the dividends page would only show dividends paid in another asset?

Blockscan will show dividends paid in any Counterparty asset. It can’t show dividends paid in BTC because that is not recorded as a Counterparty transaction.

hmm interesting. seems like it would be useful to some how record that though, since most dividends are probably going to be in btc I would think.
[EDIT: I am getting an error in Counterwallet whilst making the dividend payment. Thanks for your patience. https://forums.counterparty.co/index.php/topic,188.msg2720.html#msg2720
EDIT2: I tried again and it worked.]
Hi All,
It’s that time again! Keep in mind that we added 50 GIGAHASH to the pool so the gross figures are higher than they were previously.
Payout from Eligius + Payout from Ghash.io = 0.04208288 + 0.04948801 = 0.09157089
Minus 3% fee = 0.088823763
Total dividend per GIGAHASH = 0.00068326

There is still plenty of time and GIGAHASH for new people to jump on board and mine from Counterwallet. GIGAHASH is for sale for both XCP and BTC on the DEx.
Happy mining!
Hash rate graph from ghash.io:
Please see the first post in this thread for Eligius stats.
I have 7 Butterfly Labs singles that do around 45 Gigahash, do you think there would be some interest in more hash power or collaborating in some way? I’m already inventing enough wheels with the SOYBEANS asset I don’t need the hassle of running my own miners anymore.
But to protect my ability to do commodities trades, I need to control hashpower and direct it at pools that I’m sure are going to process my counterparty transactions in a reasonable time. Ghash.io does not meet these requirements
I feel like I’m always asking about the next payout. I hate to be that guy, but it’s been more than two weeks. Should we expect a dividend soon?
Apologies for the delay. I didn’t pay within the 24 hours due to attendance of the Melbourne conference. The 3% fee has been waived for this period.
Total payout = 0.04208288+0.02707485 = 0.06915773
Total dividend per GIGAHASH = 0.00053198

The time between payouts are starting to get a little long due to difficulty increases. Are there any objections if I reduce the payout barrier on Eligius to make payouts more timely? This will cause the respective drop in dividend.
Hi Miners,
FYI another dividend will be made in about 1 week. The rising difficulty is causing the time between dividends to increase.
After the next dividend, all hash power will be moved to ghash.io. This is because ghash.io has regular (small) payouts and I will be able to pay dividends at a set interval (such as every week). The impact is that the dividends will get smaller.
The other change that will come is that dividends will be paid in XBTC. This is to enable a) distribution of very small amounts of dividend without the amounts becoming lower than dust and b) dividends will be visible in the Counterparty ledger.
If anyone has any issues with the above, please yell out now!
** edit: I am trying to pay the dividend but I am unable to pay it. cf https://forums.counterparty.co/index.php/topic,188.msg2968.html#msg2968
edit2: I wasn't able to pay via BTC so I paid with XBTC **
Hi All,

As mentioned in the previous post, I will be changing to XBTC for distributions and all hash rate has been moved to ghash.io.

so, dividend is paid by XBTC now ? Do you have the transaction ? I have a hard time tracking payments on my addresses these days as there are too many txs happening.

Sure, it's this for the newest dividend:

The nice thing about dividends in XBTC is that it's all visible in the Counterparty ledger.
