Counterparty node in the cloud

I’m looking to set up a Counterparty node using a VPS - to do that I need a bitcoin node and counterpartyd?

So far I have Heroku set up with Toshi 


I’m interested in running the bitcoin testnet to execute etherparty contracts 

any input or advice is welcome

That’s for a commercial-grade setup. You definitively want a VPS with SSD storage and at least 1 CPU core and 8GB of RAM.

If you want to get economical you could try in a local (VirtualBox, etc.) VM first to see how slow it is with 2 or 4 GB of RAM and then decide. But since most hosting companies allow resizing, that’s probably not necessary.
