Armory Offline Address: Can't find the public key for this address

I'm trying to add an address as an "Armory Offline Address", yet I keep getting the message "Can't find the public key for this address. Please make a transaction with it and try again."
I have indeed made a transaction to the address (does that count as a transaction "with it"?), which now has 12 confirmations. Do I need to do something else? This page doesn't say anything about this.

I think you need to spend funds that were sent to that address since somewhere along the line, the public key for the address is required. That's only published when funds are spent from an address.

Yes it could be that the address hasn't ever been used.
Try to send a small amount of BTC to it (e.g. 0.002).

So, basically, to set up cold storage with Counterwallet + offline Armory, I first need to set up cold storage with online Armory + offline Armory, then make a transfer OUT of the cold storage address, and only then can I add the address to Counterwallet? This would go against the general advice not to re-use an address that has had outgoing transfers.

Ok, what I sent to the address was actually a Counterparty asset, but since that also consists of a small amount of BTC, I thought that would be enough. I'll try to send a small amount of BTC and see if that helps.

Well to tell you the truth I haven't tried and I haven't seen "official" instructions except a very simple explanation from time when Armory support was experimental. I don't know if anything changed since then.

FWIW, here's a how to that may be better:

If you get it to work please let us know which approach worked for you.

I read that one, too, but it is indeed not very detailed.

Ha! I guess I should take that as a compliment – I wrote that how-to
But it's not entirely what I'm trying to accomplish now.

Absolutely. I'm writing a new and updated version of the how-to you referenced above, where I will show how to let Counterwallet initiate a transaction of Counterparty assets that are stored in an Armory cold storage. If you want, I can share the link with this forum, once it's done.

This, indeed, did the trick. Which makes it somewhat a lengthy process to set up. Now, let's see how to actually initiate an offline transaction from Counterwallet

Thanks to the both of you for your inputs!

Edit: I finished the how-to. Here's the link: http://blog.pryds.eu/2014/09/how-to-keep-your-sjcx-in-cold-storage.html
