Is overstock in contract with counterparty?

If so, what is the legal structure of counterparty and has Patrick Byrne been informed of developments?

Yes. http://www.coindesk.com/overstock-hires-counterparty-developers-build-cryptosecurity-stock-exchange/

What do you mean by legal structure of Counterparty? It’s an open-source protocol, not a company or legal entity.

Ok. That is fine. But there must be living beings behind the posts and code and things.

Yes there are developers who decided to work on it, but anyone can participate. It is like Bitcoin.

@deliciousowl, the question was whether Counterparty is a legal entity or not (that is, a community that is not a company or non-profit or something like that).

I don’t think that Counterparty is currently a legal entity. There is a Counterparty Foundation in the works however, which is likely to be a legal entity.
