Invalid burn?

It seems that 12gcRUPqEqQkdCzjKBPTqfirZ4b7L2GKM1 sent 1 BTC at block 283811, but not recognized as the valid burn, so got 0 XCP as a return, which means this guy lost his BTC?

To understand why, read up on transaction fees on the bitcoin.it wiki.

Specifically, priority is defined by:
[pre]  priority = sum(input_value_in_base_units * input_age)/size_in_bytes[/pre]
The priority for the 0.1 BTC transaction is:

(6 * 10000000)/435 = 137931

The priority for the 1 BTC transaction is effectively 0, as the input_age is 0 blocks.

Therefore, the 0.1 BTC is processed first. It’s not a “random selection” by the miners.

Don’t shed too many tears for the guy though, as he’s burned a lot already (since January 10th, actually)
