# Invalid burn?

It seems that [font=verdana][12gcRUPqEqQkdCzjKBPTqfirZ4b7L2GKM1](http://blockscan.com/address.aspx?q=12gcRUPqEqQkdCzjKBPTqfirZ4b7L2GKM1)[/font] sent 1 BTC at block [color=rgb(0, 136, 204)][font=helvetica neue][size=13px][283811](https://blockchain.info/zh-cn/block-index/464884)[/size][/font][/color], but not recognized as the valid burn, so got 0 XCP as a return, which means this guy lost his BTC?

To understand why, read up on transaction fees on the bitcoin.it wiki.  
  
Specifically, priority is defined by:  
[pre]&nbsp; priority = sum(input\_value\_in\_base\_units \* input\_age)/size\_in\_bytes[/pre]  
The priority for the 0.1 BTC transaction is:  
  
(6 \* 10000000)/435 = 137931  
  
The priority for the 1 BTC transaction is effectively 0, as the input\_age is 0 blocks.  
  
Therefore, the 0.1 BTC is processed first. It’s not a “random selection” by the miners.  
  
Don’t shed too many tears for the guy though, as he’s burned a lot already (since January 10th, actually)
