I have submitted a PR to enable destroy on mainnet:

This is not a protocol change, as far as I can tell.

I see that this code is written, but basically it is not callable from the API or CLI. I will keep working on this branch to re-enable the feature, but it will take some more investigation into the code.

It’s a welcome PR. Last year I looked at old Issues and saw that it was to be enabled (destroy, that is) pending more testing. So it’s good that this is being considered again.
