# Does CP asset squatting pay?

Does anyone know if people have been selling/buying squatted names?

  

GEMS chose to use GEMZ, but I don’t know if the symbol GEMS was too expensive or there’s simply no way to contact the owner.

  

Has anyone heard of any examples of actual trades?

From what I heard Gems was offered for 3BTC by the squatter. Manager of gems project put it to the community to vote whether they should pay the squatters demands or not, they voted not to negotiate and took Gemz. The right move IMO.   
  
I have heard of a few sales however.  
  
There has been a few negotations that didn’t involve payment, e.g ROCKMINER.
